Amethyst Necklace with Charoite Pendant in Sterling Silver

This lovely pendant displays the gemstone Charoite, a rare gemstone, named after the Charo River in Russia, where it was discovered in the 1940's. To date, it has only been found in this area, which is known for its forbidding climate and terrain. It was originally called "lilac stone." The stone is set in Sterling silver, accented with a faceted amethyst and cultured pearls. It measures 2" in total length and 3/4" at its widest point.

I created the necklace using amethyst beads and cultured pearls capped with Sterling silver. The necklace is 17" in length, not including the pendant, and closes with a pretty swirled Sterling toggle clasp.
