A great piece from the art deco era....dates to about c1925. This is the epitome of Deco...red and chrome. You cannot knock this over as it rights itself. There is apparently a spring in the round base the pulls it back to center if knocked over. There is also a place to hold matches right in the center that you pull the top on. This is fantastic although it shows some age with some dings and the base chrome "hubcaps" being a little untrue....out of round. The ashtray itself is bent up....but I dont think any of these things stand in the way of its almost "sculptural" form. Measures about 24" tall and the base is 8" across. I tried to tip it over on the cement and it just rolled! I also believe this was made by McKee of Chicago...not positive, but that is what I was told. Also....red is rare...and rarer in original paint. And this is surprisingly heavy!
