Very old mid-19c English burl wood box measuring 9 7/8" x 6 3/4" x 3 3/4" tall. Later hand painted(c1875) with ornate monogram on the top that fooled me at first as I thought it was inlaid woods. Very well crafted with neatly joined burl wood and finely paneled/joined corners and lid. Due to shrinkage some of the corners and edges of the top are showing age. The bottom also needs a re-nailing due to shrinkage since a panel split. Also has remains of original paper to base.
