Figural Two Boys Pincushion - Luster Ware Made in Japan

Adorable times two, this figural pin cushion takes on the form of two young boys, cheek to cheek, holding a large oval lusterware basket or bowl out front. Each boy has hand-painted features on faces that are cute as can be.

Standing approx. 3-1/4" high, this pincushion is quite similar to the one shown on page 156 of the Collector's Guide to Made in Japan Ceramics, Book II (1996). With an open pin cushion hole, this lends itself to multiple uses, and could actually be used as a miniature cache pot, perfect for your desk top.

The conjoined center feet appear to have an obscure black mark, likely meant to confirm this little porcelain treasure was made in Japan.
