Exceptional French gilt bronze casket c.1840. There are amazingly detailed scenes of village life to the lid and to all four sides, and the gilt is extremely well preserved, especially to the four sides. The original floral silk still lines the inside and the underside of the lid, and is in remarkably good condition. The casket is raised on ornate gilt bronze feet, and measures 4.0" x 2.8" and, including the feet, is 2.7" high.
