Beautiful burl walnut inlaid Victorian box c.1860, with a removable tray. It has and unusual "cushion" shape with its slightly domed lid and rounded corners. The lid is inlaid with mother of pearl and abalone shell, and similar inlays adorn the lock escutcheon. The underside of the lid is lined with the original interior cushioned and buttoned silk, and the interior, including the tray, is lined with hand marbled paper. There is a brass lock, but no key. The box measures 11.5" by 8.5" and it is 6" high.

The silk to the underside of the lid shows minor wear; otherwise, the condition of the box is excellent.

Thanks for visiting.
