Stunning mid-19th century French Boulle box with drop down front panel, made of ebonized Brazilian rosewood. The top is beautifully decorated with inlays of etched brass, mother of pearl, and red, white and blue enamels, and is edged in fine brass stringing and reeded all around. The drop down front is decorated in similar fashion, and there is brass stringing on the back and sides of the box and to the underside of the lid. The box is a good size, measuring 10.25" in length by 3.9" in width and is 3" in height. The hinges, lock and key plate are original, although there is no key.

The condition is exceptional, with only minor age-related wear and no damage or loss of inlay.
