Beautiful Victorian cushion shaped walnut table box. The lid and front of the box have superb Tunbridge Ware bands inlaid in a striking arrow or feather pattern and the colors of the various woods used in these inlays are vibrant. The center of the lid has a mother of pearl cartouche and the front a matching mother of pearl escutheon, both of which are surrounded by wood inlays of the same pattern as the bands. The key is for decorative purposes -- it does not work the lock. The inside is fully lined with more recent paper. The box measures 10.75" by 7.7" and is 5.6" high.

There is a very slight scratch on one side of the lid, barely visible to the eye, but noticeable to the touch. Otherwise the finish and patina on this box are magnificent.
