You can almost feel the chill in the air looking at this nineteenth century primitive oil on canvas entitled “Winter Landscape, Virginia” by Jessie W. Hubbard.

The hues of autumn have surrendered it’s dominion that for a season reflected golden light on field, lake and sky; Now, autumn has given way to the icy rigor of Old Man Winter. Like a parable laid down to canvas, this great old painting inspires in us strength and resolve in the face of the ever changing seasons of life.

In “as found” condition” . Canvas is very thin in the area of the largest tree on the left-hand side and should probably be restored. We will try to show area in a photo. No rips or repairs. Measures approximately 30-1/2” x 20-1/2” over frame, and work measures 27-3/4” x 17-1/4”.
