It’s flattened; spherical form has been decorated with large iris blooms and foliage by a process using pulverized glass enamels called “vitrification”. The cameo relief of irises has been produced by the use of both acid etching and wheel carving. This is a form of decoration that Daum used extensively on a wide range of works; and the decorative process of vitrification was one of Daum’s specialties.
For a similar example in yellow, see page 88 of Clotilde Bacri's book, “Daum-Masters of French Glass”.
