Furstenberg Porcelain Covered Comport with Peacock Décor - Winged Caryatid Handles

Elegant porcelain vase and cover made by Furstenberg Porcelain Works whose tradition of making the very finest porcelain began in 1747 at Furstenberg, Germany.

A golden peafowl highlighted with red and turquoise is centered within a “V” shaped panel of stylized anthemion on a background of emerald green and gold gilt enamel.

Heavily gilt winged caryatid handles and gilt seedpod finial add elegance and drama. Sides of comport are identically decorated.

Stands approximately 9-3/4” tall x 8” (across handles). No damage or restoration. We believe this to be from the second half of the 20th century – even through it looks stylistically more like the 1920 to 1930 era.
