See the book, Das Bohmische Glas 1700-1950, Band VI for an example of vases from this series. They were made specifically for export to the US, and forms included flowers, animals, fruit and sometimes-even vegetables. The granular and heavily iridized base of this lamp is identical to the base of the dragon vase on page 19.
Stands approximately 14” tall. Base is approximately 5” in diameter.
This is a beautiful lamp, but it does have two condition issues. (1) One of the leaves has been broken off and the leaf stem has been polished to remove sharpness. (2) The wiring on this lamp looks original. It is not safe to plug in. The old, twisted cord is very dry and has several brakes in the outer casing. We choose to leave it, so you could see that it is indeed old and original. Do not plug this in.
Underneath base are two spurious LCT signatures. One incised and one acid etched.
Even with the loss of the one leaf, this is an exciting and rare Loetz lamp with a lot of color and panache!
