Colorful cabbage roses in violet and red spill across a background of leafing vine in shades of blue, green and purple. The tankard pitchers tapering form has gold gilt scalloped rim and a repousse mask of the mythological Green Man or possibly Old Man North Wind.
The large gold gilt handle is in the form of a three-toed Bearded Dragon. The dragons arched back and long bony tail adds just the right touch of drama and whimsy to this magnificent authentic Limoges masterpiece.
No repairs or restoration. Stands approximately 11” to top of spout. Unsigned by painter. Appropriate (hand contact) wear to gold gilt areas, especially the spine of the dragon and scalloped rim. Minute surface scratches are minimal and are commensurate with age of vessel. Green under glaze mark no. 5 (JPL France) for white ware sold by Jean Pouyat between 1890 and 1932.
