Mid-Century Modern – American Studio Hand Wrought Sterling Silver FRIDL Brooch Pin

This interesting asymmetrical hand-crafted sterling silver brooch pin features Sand Pipers on a textured pointille’ ground. It is impressed with “Sterling” and “FRIDL” with a tulip just below.

It is thought that this may be the work of Fridl M. Blumenthal, born 1905 in Berlin and died in 1998. According to archives of Silver Forum subscribers , the artist FRIDL has jewelry exhibited in the Smithsonian, and was featured in a show at the University of Chicago in 1966. Regardless, this is a well designed and beautiful brooch of superior workmanship.
