The British assay marks are: the letters W H in a semi-circle with flat bottom, a 9 in an oval, 375, the sideways anchor denoting Birmingham gold, and an 'x' in a box with cut corners. We are not really certain on the date letter, so we think saying early 20th century is sufficient. It may actually be older.
The holder measures 1 13/16" long; the case is 2 3/8" long. There are no chips or cracks on the holder but it does have teeth marks at the stem. The case is in wonderful condition with very light wear and the interior is immaculate. It still has the "REAL BLOCK AMBER" foil sticker in the lid! the closure mechanism works well. The outside of the case has light wear at the edges.
This is an outstanding piece to add to your collection.
