This rare pickle caster has the E. G. Webster and Son Mark of the W in a spiderweb. It is also stamped with the pattern # 63. The company was founded by Elizur G. Webster in 1860 (Brooklyn & NY). It was formed E. G. Webster & Brother in 1865. Then was incorporated in 1867 as Webster Manufacturing Co. Later it was sold to the International Silver Co. in 1928. The clear glass insert has a rayed bottom and raised design of leaves and flowers on each corner. It also has a raised design under the top rim. The rim has a few flea bites which the lid covers. The metal has a floral and leaf design. It is tarnished but in great condition. The lid has some worn places where it looks like someone may have tried to remove the tarnish. I have left the piece as I found it at an estate sale. It stands approximately 11" tall. The glass insert measures 4 1/2" tall and the rim is 3" square. The tongs ar 6 1/2" long.
