This rare pickle caster has the E. G. Webster and Son Mark of the W in a spiderweb. It is also stamped with the pattern # 63. The company was founded by Elizur G. Webster in 1860 (Brooklyn & NY). It was formed E. G. Webster & Brother in 1865. Then was incorporated in 1867 as Webster Manufacturing Co. Later it was sold to the International Silver Co. in 1928. This Hayden Spun Brass Bucket is a wonderful early piece. It came from an estate sale and I was told it was an 'apple-butter' bucket. Beautiful with a warm and rich patina. It is marked on the bottom "H.W. Hayden's Patent Dec 16, 1851 Extended Dec. 15, 1865, Reissued Feb. 13, 1866, Manufactured by the Ansonia Brass Co". The handle is hand made iron with pointed ends.
