Gorgeous Art Glass Vase, Iridized Finish with Detailed Copper Mouth Piece

Standing 8 1/2" tall and 4" at the largest diameter, this is an impressive piece. The iridized glaze starts at the top with deep shades of violet, purple and green and fades to a lighter green and gold at the base. These colors change with the light and background in their intensity and I have shown this with various photo set-ups to illustrate this. Picture #2 was taken in natural light; a little fuzzy but the best indication of the true colors. The design of the glass is subtle and can best be seen looking at the inside. It has a gentle twist with regularly spaced 'dents' or thumb prints.

The mouth is covered with a lovely and finely detailed piece of copper (or copper colored) metalwork depicting grape clusters and leaves. This is removable which could account for the shallow flake on the top rim.

Besides the above-mentioned flake there is also a 2" long interior fracture which can be seen in the close-up view. We believe that this was created in the cooling process as there is a small popped bubble in the center of this line. It is quite unobtrusive and amplified in the photos. There are also several other pops and bubbles and a small glaze scuff to the left of the hairline. Our low price reflects these imperfections.

We are sure that you will be very pleased with this absolutely beautiful piece of glass; an excellent example of the Art Nouveau style dating to around 1900. It is unmarked, attribution is Loetz.
