These two small (4 1/2" square) silhouettes depict two children, one a curly-headed boy facing left, the other a bonneted girl facing right. Both appear to be quite young and are probably brother and sister. Only one (the boy) is signed by the talented artist, Nancy Jean Witt, and is dated Nov. 1929. These profiles were cut from very thin black paper and mounted on a stock card. The oval is cream colored and was no doubt whiter at one time. The black area compared to the black paper of the silhouettes shows as very dark brown.
The frames are the same; 3/8" thick wood, gilded and accented with a black stripe. Both have the original glass; there is a small nick on the surface of the 'boy'. There are some faint marks or smudges on the interior of the glass and also some minute particles that have crept in over the years. I will not disassemble them.
While in excellent condition, these would no doubt benefit from an archival remounting.
