Ruby Flash Glass Toothpick or Match Holder

This is slightly larger than the average toothpick holder and measures 3" tall by 2 1/2" in diameter. Perhaps a match or cigarette holder or simply a beautiful object to sit in a sunny window. These mugs were popular souvenirs at fairs, carnivals and tourist attractions and could be personalized on the spot. This was purchased by or presented to Louisa Hoffmeister, whose name is etched on the side in old fashioned script. It is dated 1906.

The applied handle and pressed glass base are clear, the base having an arch and button pattern on the body and a hobstar on the bottom. No chips or cracks, some tiny spots of missing flash as shown in the photos. No discernable maker's mark.
