Pre-Christmas Doll Sale this Month! $25 Off & Free Shipping on all Ginny Dolls.
These were found at a local estate sale and were said to have been purchased together when new and displayed side by side since then. Of course it is not possible to confirm or deny this but we doubt that these were originally sold as a pair due mainly to the different eye color and costume differences. While there is no evidence of play wear on either, the condition varies between the two. The boy doll has faded slightly more than the girl and needed to be restrung. He also has a almost-open split on the left leg seam as shown in the close-up. This appears on both sides of the leg (please ask for more pictures). Both doll's eye paint has turned to blond; notice the left eyebrow on the boy doll that was protected by his bangs and is the original light brown. This fading is fairly common on Ginnys from this era and is not unpleasant on these tow-heads. Cheek and lip color is vivid with no scratches or spots.
The girl doll is in perfect condition with beautiful original paint brush style braids that have never been undone. Some of the hair has pulled out of the braids but I will leave it to the next owner to redo these if desired. Her blue eyes open and close freely, no body splits or stains and tightly strung. Her outfit is in excellent condition with just a hint of browning to the white organdy apron and cap. The dress is mysterious as it has the skinny "Vogue" tag dating it to 1952 but it is the brighter blue of the 1953 Holland outfit; notice the color variation between the her dress and the boy's jumper. Not shown are matching blue panties and wooden shoes.
The boy doll is too cute for words. Other than the above-mentioned leg seam he is in wonderful condition with a fluffy curly blond wig and big brown eyes that like to stay open. His jumper is a little dingy around leg and arm holes and has a small rust spot and hole on the front, easily covered by the yellow felt scarf which is in excellent condition, as is the cap.
After some consideration I have decided to sell these together but because of the condition differences and possible discrepancies to their costumes I will, rather reluctantly, sell them separately. Please inquire about individual prices and do not hesitate to request more photos of these gorgeous dolls.
Also included are two new white metal doll stands.
