Small Acrylic Painting on Board, Roses in a Blue Vase

This beautiful painting was done on an 8" by 10" board mounted in a 11" by 13" wooden frame. Roses in a blue vase on a green background. Simple enough, but this painting deserves more description and as we are not overly familiar with the terms used in the art world, we will just use our own adjectives and try to describe it to the best of our ability.

The paint was thickly applied with a knife or other small implement..there are no brush strokes..and the roses are amazing in their detail. This has a very glossy surface and the petals are almost like patent leather. The paint seems to have been flattened somehow. There are none of the 'peaks' that are generally a result of impasto painting. An interesting effect that is difficult to describe.

The pink and white roses are joined by two peach and an yellow-orange spider mum giving this painting a rather Fall-ish feel. The predominately green background is dark with a light area in the top left corner, perhaps representing a window. Signed "Maury" in lower right.

This lovely painting probably deserves a nicer frame. While this one is completely serviceable and structurally sound, it is made of light wood with a pressed-in pattern (ie. cheap). The painting is in perfect condition with a very high gloss varnish finish.
