This large figure measures almost 14" tall, 9" across at the widest part and about 6" in diameter at the base. While we will not label it as porcelain, it is of a dense and fine clay and weighs a heavy 6 1/2 pounds. The style is referred to as 'singerie' ('monkey trick' in French); "Monkeys attired in clothing and mimicking humans in their activities". This little tin powder or trinket box is so cute...so colorful and such a pleasing shape. Measuring 6 1/4" x 4 1/4" x 4 1/8" tall, the removable lid has a round wooden handle which is slightly askew. This casket shaped paper covered cardboard chocolate box is so beautiful. It measures 8" long by 4 1/2" wide by 4 1/4" tall. I tried to decipher the etching on the back of this old brass box and came up with 'Syria' which makes sense as I believe the characters are Islamic. This measures 4 3/4" by 3 1/4" by 2" high and is lined with cedar which hints at the probably use for this. Measures 8 1/2" in both height and width and is in very nice condition with no chips or cracks but exhibits the fine crazing that these often develop.
