Each side has a different scene the first side depicts a beautiful Noble Woman sitting in a flower Garden holding a scroll The other side has a Castle amidst the trees and flowers
The gold tone frame is marked Germany and the snap clasp has two Sapphire Cabochons on top
The material is velvet.
The Noble Woman is holding a scroll with a phrase on it. I believe the phrase is written in Latin with the last words saying (I believe) Per se which means By itself in English.
She is wearing a detailed Gown / Robe painted in pink and yellow with a high ruffled collar and hat.
The Purse Measures 6 inches in height including the clasp and 5 1/2 inches wide. The linked chain measures 7 inches long.
The inside of the purse is lined in a taupe satin which is in very good condition with no rips or tears. There is also a cinched side pocket. The Velvet is also in very good condition with NO rips or tears There is some rubbing to the velvet near the edges There is some slight paint missing here but does not detract from the Beauty or Rarity of the purse.
The Purse Dates to the late 19th century early 20th century Free hand painted purses are quite rare and do not come along often. Please email me any questions I respond promptly !
