This is an lovely double pin that is part of the very well known series of bird designs attributed to Coro. Grandma has seen this form referred to as Birds of Paradise, but doesn't know if that is common parlance or an 'official' name to the style. Grandma actually thinks these are Blue Jays. This variation in form features two blue enamelled birds, with green and yellow accents, perched on a flowering branch. Each bird is accented with rhinestone wings. The pair is connected with a slide-style frame on the back, and can be worn as a single brooch, or either or both of the birds can be worn apart from the other. The birds are made of pot metal.
Some folks might call this a Duette, but it is more accurately a doublette or double pin, as the separate pieces are actually pins, not clips.
It is rare to find this set intact and in good shape - and even more rare to find the pretty birds with their frame. There are few small dings in the enamel, one being on the beak of one of the birds. You really have to search to spot any other sign of this piece's age.
