Gold Tone Mesh Compact Purse

This is a wonderful old powder compact and change purse combo. The body of the bag is in gold tone mesh, the type most often used by Whiting and Davis (although this item is unmarked). The lid of the purse opens up to reveal blue-gray fabric lining, and an inner compartment. The inner compartment is a compact duo, with one side holding face powder and the other holding rouge. The lid to rouge compartment is made of highly polished silver tone metal, and serves as the mirror. Both sides of the compact still have their original puffs.

This piece is in good condition. The mesh bag is perfect - no missing links or damaged finish. The mechanical parts are all in very good working order. The lining has no tears or fray spots, but does have a touch of discoloration - looks a little faded in a few spots. The gold tone finish on the lid does have a touch of discoloration. There is a diamond shaped spot in the center of the lid for engraving, and someone did engrave an initial, although it is very light and appears to have been done by hand. There is a good chance this can be buffed out with a Dremel tool.
