This fabulous purse dates to the late Victorian era. It is crocheted, using black thread and a fine weave, with small copper colored beads knitted in. The bead work is in a checkerboard pattern. The bag secures with a string pull, which is woven into the crochet work at the top. The original lining is in place - it is a black fabric, possibly silk. The purse is finished with tassels made of the copper beading hanging from the bottom.

This purse is in excellent condition, with no holes or tears to either the bag or the lining. Grandma believes there may be some loops of the tassle missing from the bottom, because it seems a little thin, but this does not detract in any way.
