This very old Canning Jar is dated April 16 1902 embossed on the lid. Also on the lid is The Weir Patented March 1 1901 at least I think that is what is printed there. It is very hard to read the printing. It is a quart size and could be used to preserve meat which was then covered in fat to keep it safe. I am glad we don't have to deal with that type of preservation anymore.
