This is a beautiful hand painted California strawberry vegetable bowl by the Metlox Pottery company. It has a striking hand-painted strawberry of a luscious red which balances the avocado-green leaves.

The bowl is in excellent condition. It is 9 inches in diameter and 2 ½ inches deep and weighs 1 pound 12 ounces.

The base of the bowl has the Metlox trademark: POPPYTRAIL, METLOX, MADE IN CALIFORNIA, and a number that looks like 66.

Metlox Pottery was established in 1927 by Willis and T.C. Prouty in Manhattan Beach, California. The famous Poppy Trail line was introduced in 1934.

The company soon introduced innovations which allowed them to speed production while at the same time lowering their costs. They continued production until going out of business in 1989.

This piece was purchased by Tom's from a Hartford area estate. We have only one available, so buy it now!
