This hand painted portrait of Alexandra von Bayern came from an estate sale many years ago. It is painted on an ivory wafer and signed M Stieler. This is a victorian hand painted copy of a famous portrait. It is very good quality. I was not able to come up with a bio on the lady. This is one of a pair of ladies that I purchased years ago. The paper was torn off on the back when I purchased her and removed once by an appraiser to determine that it was painted on ivory and it was discovered that there was a very tiny hairline crack on the edge going inward toward the figure, this does not go into the visable area, it is concealed by the frame. There is wear to the ebonized frame, looks like someone tried to polish the brass at one time and took off a bit of paint, plus wear and tear from age. Years ago I pasted the provenance on the backside. If buyer purchases this and the other listing I will give a discount. I hate to break them up after being together for so long.
