I found this brooch in a book, "Illustrated Jewelry Catalog 1892, The New England Jeweler" so we know it is at least that old. They were made with either real diamonds or 'imitation' diamonds....this stone is foiled on the back so it is one of the 'imitation' diamonds. 7/8" across with a 'C' clasp on the back and in very very good condition......please see pictures.

Originally, these three buttons would have had two chains holding them together.......like mountain climbers who have ropes connecting them as they climb. The chains were so if a button fell from the clothing it was still attached to another button so, hopefully, it would be noticed and saved before it was lost. There are remnants of chains left on this set but they are not complete and are only attached on one side....someone has crocheted a cord to connect the buttons instead. The buttons are ...

Each of these tiny bar pins has an engraved design and an letter in the center.......the letter appears to be a 'B' (for 'baby'?) but if turned the other way could possibly be a 'J'. Made of 10K yellow gold, they are marked as such and on the back of each bar pin is a safety pin clasp. Each pin is 11/16" X 3/32" and they are connected by two 2-1/2" gold chains. The set is in near mint condition and was probably not used often but was 'saved for good'.

This is a beautiful brooch or pin that I have kept on my desk for a year or so just so I could enjoy it before letting it go to a new owner. It is good sized at 2-3/4" X 1/2" with a lovely piece of translucent green jade. The frame is gold but I am not good at reading the karat......so am only guaranteeing that it is at least 10K.
