Small Indulgences with Great Rewards ~ Jewelry, Fine Gifts, Antiques & Collectibles ~ Treat Yourself!
The edge of the oval shape is trimmed with two thicknesses of rope styled gold. The center is adorned with an intricate edge. Stepping up from this is a row of tiny natural Turquoise stones centered by a round cabochon of natural Coral. Inset in the Coral cabochon is a six pointed star in gold which holds a mine cut diamond.
It is in excellent condition with no damage or missing stones. Some light scratching on the 18k gold surface consistent with age. The glass in the back is original. The pin stem has been replaced for a white metal one. All else seems original to me.
It is unmarked and tests as 18k Yellow Gold. It was electronically and acid tested. Some of the patina has been left, as found.
Measurements are 1 "7/8" (52mm) wide by 1 1/2" (42mm) tall and 9/16" (14mm) deep at the center, where the mine cut diamond is. It weighs 21.3 grams. Closes with a simple c clasp, circa 1850s.
