We have been in business since 1997 offering a wide variety of antiquarian and collectible books and paper items.
We are so pleased to offer this book which has been flat-signed by an icon of American literature, Carl Sandburg. Best known for his poetry, Sandburg penned only this one novel, begun when he was 65 years old and published when he was seventy. In it he explores the American Dream and the price paid for it over three and a half centuries of American history.
The book itself is clean and nice with very little wear to navy blue boards. Former owner's small address label is still affixed to front pastedown across from Sandburg's signature which graces the front free endpaper. Pages have uniformly toned, but are clean as a whistle. The dustjacket has not been price-clipped and is marred only by a small bit of chipping to top of spine and corners. It has been placed in brand new protective mylar for safekeeping.Altogether very nicely kept.
It's interesting to note that both Sandburg's and his wife's ashes are buried in the garden of his childhood home in Illinois beneath a large red rock fittingly called "Remembrance Rock." 1067 pages.
