We have been in business since 1997 offering a wide variety of antiquarian and collectible books and paper items.
What fun to have a program from the 1939 hit stage play, The Philadelphia Story, starring the elegant Katherine Hepburn. Not only is there a long interview with the leading lady, but also lots of wonderful photos from the show, an article about its author, Philip Barry, and another about its director, Robert Sinclair.
Also fun to check out are the bios of the cast members who include such noteables as Shirley Booth, who later became known for her TV role as Hazel the maid; Van Heflin and Joseph Cotten.
The program measures 9"x12" and is very clean and well bound. There is a small bit of wear to upper left corner near spine and a light fade to outer front edge. Program was lightly folded by its former owner -- most likely the night of the play. The back cover with its cartoony art offers praise by the reviewers.
Walter Winchell wrote this: "New Yorchids: Katherine Hepburn's new hit "Philadelphia Story' -- the best comedy in town. A delightfully amusing and refreshing show, blessed, too, with an exceptionally good troupe of entertainers, besides the electric Hepburn."
The electric Hepburn indeed!
