The pitcher has a 4 footed scroll designed base outlined in gold.
Superb full squat bottom area.
The center front has a lovely mythological theme with 2 seated lovers and a man standing above with a laurel leaf head wreath ready to bestow on top of the partially nude lady's head.
The center top is made to appear as an ornate lid.
Lovely shades of apricot to soft peach and soft light green reminiscent of a summer tuber Lily.
The pitcher is 9 1/2" high by 6 1/2" across and 6" deep. There are no chips, cracks, or damage to the piece. A very fine, delicate all over crazing without staining.
It carries the mark of Joseph Holdcroft, ca. 1865-1909. Holdcroft is very well known for his Majolica pieces but he also made Earthenware and Parian which are harder to find. Stoke-On-Trent based in Longton.
