This is a decorative hand-carved basket hook from Papua New Guinea. These hooks were used to suspend foods and other perishables off the ground out of reach of the rodents. Carved out of a dark brown wood and painted in black, brown and white. 20th century. This is item is part of a collection of New Guinea artifacts from a local estate. Size is 28” long. Shipping $9
