In my 6+ years of buying and selling antique French postcards, I have looked at literally thousands of cards and have bought about 12-14,000. I love it when I can still say "I've never seen another one like this one" and I can say that about this card! This is such a delightful design and a great outfit! The actress Emelen is dressed as one of those heroic Musketeers. This is a real photo postcard featuring the artistry of the Reutlinger studio. Those gentlemen were very much into collage and montage styles and this one is most distinctive. The postal cancellation date has long faded but I feel confident in dating this card to the turn of the century, pre-1910. No creases; surface still glossy.
