This is a delightful set of 4 French postcards mailed in 1907. The sender's penmanship is hard to read but on one card I can clearly read "I think of you always." Is that too sweet or what?! The photography and color tinting on this batch of postcards is incredible. These cards were mailed in 1922. The messages written on the back are French but the printed text on front is German. Eternally yours, first kiss and you are my dear are a few of the phrases I could translate. Any signs of age are inconsequential. A superb lot -- my group discount price is a real bargain.

These two postcards are written on on the front. Some folks think that is distracting, but in a case like this, it often adds to the history and character of the card. Postmarked 1903, it was illegal to write a message on the back -- only the recipient's address went there. For their age, these cards are in stunning condition, as the scans show. I think these cards would be tres belle framed in gold and hung by a thick green velvet ribbon!

I specialize in rare postcards and cards for collage artists. This card doesn't fall into any category except to say it's just sweet! It's soothing just to stare at it -- the scene is so idyllic and relaxing. Picnic, anyone? It's also VERY romantic -- look at the message on the back: "Patience! Good kisses, Juliette" This card is in almost mint condition. I'm not sure but think this card dates to late 19-teens.

In the Art Deco era, this style of postcard was very popular -- black (or blue) background with a gold overlay. This one feature's Cupid's arrows and dangling hearts along with a garland of vines. The color tinting is bright and bold. Love the woman's scarf skirt! The message on the front of this unused French postcard says "My sweet song is that of Love!" This is a mix of illustration and real photo, all color tinted by hand to make one sweet collage. Postcards with phonograph motifs are rare and expensive. This is a great one for the collector. Glossy surface, overall mint unused condition! With the divided back and the woman's style, I fell confident in dating this card to about 1904-1918.

There is a partial bleed through of the postal cancellation in the top right corner. Otherwise, this sweet illustration of a butterfly child is indeed in near mint condition. The "flowers" spell "Je pense a vous," which means, I think of you. This card, which is lightly embossed, was mailed in 1905 to Boom, Belgium.

These damsels are all lovely and refined -- gorgeous illustrations and sweet French script. These cards bear dates of 1901 and 1903; one is unused. Double click to make the cards large. Isn't this incredible?! In overall mint condition, this postcard is half the normal antique card size -- 2-1/8 by 5-3/8 inches. The undivided back lets us know it was printed in 1903 or earlier. L'Amour est Aveugle is French for "Love is blind." What do you make of the title and the illustration? Notice the hand writing at bottom: Paris le 13 Sept. 1903---- it would be another year before the government allowed postcards with divided backs. Until then, only the address went on the back and if the sender had anything to say, he/she HAD to write it on the front!
