Pave set crystal rhinestones I believe to be paste. They look to be original and still retain lots of sparkle. No stones are dead, but do show some slight signs of age.

Spider has the brightest little beady red rhinestone eyes. They add that special touch.

Brooch is composed of gold over an alloy – could be base metal.

Has hinged pin and C clasp. The clasp was stamped with the body, and then bent upwards to accommodate the pin.

Condition is excellent for its age. There are a few darkened spots of plate loss on the underside and on the legs on the top section and a tiny area on one side near the rear of the pin. As you can see in the photos, most of the gold overlay is still present and gleams quite a bit.

Last shots were taken without a flash, so you can see the wear on the legs and body more clearly. These were hard to see when I used a flash.

Brooch measures 1.75” x 2” and is .50” in height.

This brooch has been very well cared for and is in utterly fabulous aged condition.

Legend has it that spiders are a symbol of good luck. So you not only get a marvelous Victorian brooch, but you just may get a bit of good luck too.
