Green Band and Floral Staffordshire Cup and Saucer

This antique English earthenware cup and saucer has floral decoration along with bold deep green bands on both cup and saucer. This would be a charming addition to a display of country ceramics. Circa 1840, the hand painting is deftly executed, except for where the painter smudged the cup’s green band with a thumb. No maker’s mark, but “100” painted mark on bottom (probably a tally mark since this ware was produced on a piece-work basis, and the workers wanted to make sure their output was recorded).
Size: Cup top diameter is 3.625”, 2.25” high; saucer diameter approximately 5.75”
Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks or repairs.
Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, I would expect a return if I happen to miss anything.
