A beautiful nineteenth century ironstone pattern by Davenport, easily recognized by the large fig (or pear) used as a handle on the lid. There is a reeded and cross banded border around the edge of dish, with leaf sprays at corners and handles, as well as a leafy bed for the finial. The sculptural quality of this pattern makes it a classic.
Impressed English Registry mark for year 1856, and impressed Davenport “Ironstone China” mark.
Size: Approximately 12” x 8.25”, 7” total height.
Condition: Good. Some browned/rust areas. Small nick on edge. No other chips, cracks or repairs.
Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, I would expect a return if I happen to miss anything.
