Floral Decorated Staffordshire Wash Bowl

White relief-molded washbowl with polychrome decoration. The outer edge has a shell, scroll and lace-type relief border, with scrolls highlighted in deep green. Hand painted floral sprays in red and green decorate the bowl’s interior. There is a dark green stripe around the base. No maker’s mark. Body of this is closer to porcelain than earthenware The hand painting on this type of ware is naïve and charming, and makes a great addition to a country decorating scheme. Size: Top diameter approximately 12”, height 4.25” Condition: Some wear around extreme edge as you would expect on a utilitarian item. No chips, cracks or repairs. Note that I try to be conservative about condition descriptions, carefully noting any flaws. Of course, with antique items, there will be some signs of usage, and/or manufacturing defects. But overall, my customers have always been pleasantly surprised upon receiving their items, and of course, I would expect a return if I happen to miss anything.
