Wadsworth, one of the finer names in compacts and watch cases from as early as 1890.

This lovely piece, adorned with a gorgeous tail feathered bird on a floral branch was once used as a powder compact. The sturdy hinges and durable clasp are an attribute to the fine craftsmanship of the WADSWORTH COMPANY.

The powder is empty, though the wonderful light fragrance stills lingers. The mirror is in excellent condition. The inside locking compartment still works well and is not difficult to open like some of the other older pieces you come across. The textured interior compartment cover is marked 'Wadsworth U.S.A.'. There is some gold loss to this cover, though it does not affect the integrity of the piece.

Wadsworth compacts are difficult to come by, making this piece quite a find! This maker is less known to the casual collector; unlike some of the more well known compact manufacturer's.

Measures: 3-1`/2" l x 2-1/8" w, 1/4" thick

Funny how this ad from 57 years ago can easily be translated to a use of today...read on. At Footbridge Cove we LOVE to take pieces of the past and integrate them into our every day lives.

Our take on this piece...a wonderfully creative lipstick/gloss container. Take your favorite lipstick and remove it from the tube. Place it in small bowl & with a spoon, smooth it into a paste, maybe add a bit of gloss or blistex tub, etc ...you get the picture. Place this mixture into the compact. Let harden in a cool place and 'voila' you have a new lipstick container with a mirror as well, QUITE the conversation piece indeed! Being flat it slides easily into any size handbag You'll be the envy of your friends as you casually take out the beautiful piece, using a finger dab some of the color on your lips while glancing into the mirror!
