An elegant, highly-desirable early Danish Sterling teapot of oval form having a reeded footrim, low vertically-reeded neck with beaded rim enclosing a bombé removeable lid. High gooseneck spout and C-shaped handle, the ends inserting into sockets in the body. Lid had silver finial and wooden knop. The body is engraved with a reeded, horizontal band over panel of grape leaves, swags, and tassels.Vacant shield-shaped cartouche. Hallmarked Copenhagen 1817. Assay Master’s mark F. Fabricius. There are two additional marks, including a two-handled urn mark. Length 10 ˝ inches. Height to tinial 6 inches. Weight 424 grams.
