Our Green hard-stone Buddha watercolour was painted by Grand Duchess Xenia, sister of Olga Alexandrovna. It was acquired from the Byington Collection which is acknowledged in: Tzar: The Lost World of Nicholas & Alexandra by Peter Kurth (p. 223); and Olga Romanov: Russia’s Last Grand Duchess by Patricia Phenix (p. 296) by direct descent from Olga Alexandrovna. 3 ½” x 3 ½”. Inscribed in Russian and signed Xenia 1933 – 34.
