19th Century English Pierced Brass Coal Box with Original Liner

This elegant, pierced brass box was used in the late 19th century to heat bedrooms or other rooms. The removable liner was filled with hot stones. Box has oval, gadrooned single ring handles; the lid has a foliated finial. The four splayed feet are delightful. It stands 11 ½ inches high (13 inches to finial) x 11 ¾ inches wide. Imagine it as a jardiniere. Gorgeous. Note the hole in the bottom of the removable liner (see photos).
