This unusual, large, two-handled sterling silver cup was made in Birmingham in 1909 by C.S. Green and Co. The retailer was Rosenthal, Ottawa. It has been buffed to remove an inscription and there is some slight dimpling on one side as a result. Otherwise its condition is excellent. It would make a striking trophy, or look absolutely stunning filled to overflowing with flowers. Height to handle 10” (11 ½” total height); diameter 5” on a 4 ½” diameter base. Weight: 646 grams.

An early miniature portrait of a lady with blond hair and blue ribbons. Portrait is encased in an oval, untested gold frame measuring 3 inches by 3 ¾ inches. Frame has a high carved glass front and back with an oval suspension ring. Paper label on the back: “51 An oval miniature on ivory of Miss Fauquier 1788 . . . Roberts . . . from Mr. Bristow’s collection.” The back is fabric covered.
