The tole body of the purdonium has been repainted. Very few still retain their original finish. It has cast iron wheels, handles, and foliated finial. The purdonium is named after Mr. Purdon, the Welshman who either devised it or owned the first one in the second quarter of the 19th century. A truly unique Welsh antique.
