Rare Set 11 Large Vintage Polish Striped Blown Glass Teardrop Christmas Ornaments

I have been a collector of Christmas ornaments for quite some time now and I have never run across these before! I believe them to be from Poland since they have the same type of metal cap seen on the Polish ornaments. I would estimate them to be from the 1940's or possibly even earlier. These are a large ornament, measuring 4" tall and 2-3/8" wide, with a fat teardrop shape. There are slight variations since they are blown. Each ornament has a series of striped bands around the mid-section bordered by white painted rings with a solid colored top and bottom section. There are three ornaments with a hot pink bottom and top, three with red, three with blue and two with orange. The stripes on any particular ornament are made up of the colors that are not used on the top and bottom of that ornament (hope that makes sense). They are just stunning as a group. When the light hits them, they have such a beautiful sheen. There are 11 total in an old 8-1/2" x 12" brown box so one must have been broken at some point in time. The box is the type that has an attached hinged lid on one side. It has been reinforced with tape and has some tears. NOTE: The bright white spots are just a glare from the lighting. #81088

CONDITION:

These ornaments are in very good condition overall. They are not perfect and most of their problems seem to be with their necks. Four of them have chips on the necks that can be seen on one side even with the cap in place. I have photographed the most noticeable but these will not be obvious when hanging on the tree. The hangers and caps are all sturdy and strong and will hang well. I have replaced several of the caps that were too loose fitting for my liking so these do not have their original caps. One ornament has a tight hairline that begins at the neck and comes down a little ways on the top of the ornament. I have shown this also in one of the photos. These five ornaments with the defects have been discounted in price. Besides the problems with the necks, there is a little oxidation spotting, a few have light snow spray on them and there is some minor paint wear here and there. They are really in marvelous shape if you examine the paint and consider their age. The chipping on the necks is really a minor thing with ornaments of this type and rarity.
