History: This display sign was part of a membership package presentation for joining the Lladro Society Membership
Just purchased at an estate. Item is in excellent condition.
Measuring approximately 5 3/4"x 4 1/2," this porcelain bisque "Lladro Collector's Society" (LCS) plaque is a rare and highly collectible piece.
It is piece 7601 and was released as a plaque for Charter Members to the LCS for one year only in 1985. (Placa Sociedad Colecccionistas). It was available until 1999 and then it was retired.
This bas relief, taken from the 1969 Lladro figure sculpted by Salvador Furio,shows Don Quixote de la Mancha sitting in a chair-- his left hand resting in the pages of a book, and his right hand still clinging to a sword which is now at rest on the floor.
The names of the three Lladro brothers, Juan, Jose and Victor are in the front of the plaque as signatures. The back of the plaque in somewhat convex and is in the shape of a shell.
On the bottom, it is hallmarked "LLadro, Handmade, Spain, DAISA, 1985." In the upper right hand corner from this there is a "30" engraved by hand and a stamped "B-29-J". under the hallmark.
This piece is valued at $100.00 among collector's because of it's rarity.
